How could the people who once set the standard for modern democratic society and spread knowledge and wisdom end up in an economic and humanitarian crisis that shook the very foundations of their existence? Where has that wisdom, that once built the strong, solidary structure which offered a life of prosperity and success to the ancient Greeks, possibly gone? How come modern Greeks choose to base their beliefs on mortal sins while ignoring noble virtues? What has gone wrong?
The present artwork is an interesting portrait of a village in Greece and a daring attempt to reflect parts of the country’s general mentality. By going through certain behaviours and tendencies in Kalývia, the author creates a picture of what everyday life looks like there, and addresses aspects and principles that, if re-evaluated, could raise the quality of it. A book with the potential to provoke and open up discussions about personal development and change.
